Ever notice how annoying it is to jump from reading one site to another? Some websites have text stretching all the way across the screen. Other sites have a couple narrow columns of words. Some websites surround everything with flashing banner ads and animated games. And other websites insert lots of text ads.
If you've ever wished things could be different, Arc90's Reabability is for you.
Think of it this way: you press one button, and every page looks the same.
Really, it's that easy. (And did I mention that it's free?)
Arc90's Readability basically vacuums up the text it sees, drops off all the useless ads and pictures, formats everything however you want it to, and gives you the finished result. Think of it as a vacuum cleaner for useless Internet crap.
The problem with Arc90's readability is that they did such a great job, people don't link to their site as often as they use the product. All you have to do to use Arc90's Readability is to click on a button and drag it up to your browser's bookmark bar (just below the address bar).
This means that Arc90's readability doesn't get a visitor every time someone uses the site. If they'd made it a little less simple, they'd get a lot more traffic (and could use that to get a lot more business).
But when they made Readability, Arc90 took the high road. They have a product so popular their users forget it even exists. A nice problem to have, but a problem nonetheless. Hopefully, Google will find a way to give them the recognition they deserve. Meanwhile, the best the rest of us can do is to talk up Readability every chance we get!
